We had four people turn up to our first rehearsal. Some hadn't played in a group for quite some time, Some hadn't played at all in a while. But we managed to make music, having a go at 6 pieces. As player / MD / Conductor I had to resort to tapping my foot to mark the beat for us all.
I took the music back in at the end, but from the next session I'm going to leave the music with the players so they can have a practice at home. With us only have 12 rehearsals a year, letting people take the music home will allow players to practice in their own time, making a concert a much more achievable event.
We had a few laughs, and I think everyone enjoyed it. And I'm certainly looking forward to the next practice.
